AIDWA condemns the attack on social activists Shabnam Hashmi and Pratap Singh Negi in Rai Bareli, Yesterday by BJP workers. It indicates the intolerance and dictatorial attitude of party. How can they dare to stop others from campaigning and at the same time using abusive language against a female threatening rape. This is shocking. AIDWA demands immediate strict action against the culprits.

AIDWA welcomes the judgment of the Kerala High Court delivered on Friday, 5^thApril 2014, in the infamous Suryanelli sex racket case, confirming life sentence on the main accused and also various terms of rigorous imprisonment ranging from 7 to 10 years for 23 of other accused. This brings to the survivor a limited justice, though belated.

On Wednesday the Honourable Court upheld the trial court’s order of life sentence to three convicts in this case and labeled it a case of ‘Honour Killing’.

The latest incident has taken place in Labhpur, Birbhum on 21^st January , when a 20 year-old adivasi girl from the village of Rajrampur was abducted and gang-raped by 12 persons from the same village as she had dared to have a relationship with a non-tribal boy.
